The following Health & Safety measures were implemented based on feedback from our parents, staff, board members, and the Health Department.
  • NBCC is prepared to implement new public health recommendations as required by the Indiana Department of Education and the Health Department.
  • Only staff and children will be allowed beyond the entrance of our building.  Children will be taken by staff or can walk to their class and called or brought to the office when you come for them.
  • Temperatures may be taken at the door and they may be taken in the classroom upon entering.
  • Children will start and end their day in their classroom.  We will no longer be combining at the beginnings and end of the day.
  • Children will eat in their classroom.  We will not be using the cafeteria.
  • We will continue to teach children to properly wash their hands.
  • We will continue to work with children on coughing in their elbows.
  • All children will be accompanied to the restroom by a staff member (we have stalls for privacy) to assure all students are properly washing their hands and to sanitize the sinks after each use.
  • NBCC staff will continue to sanitize toys and disinfect rooms daily.
  • Children will be playing outside often to get fresh air and sunshine
  • No child or staff will be allowed to stay in the building if they have any of the following symptoms:  temperature of 100 or higher, respiratory symptoms, rash (any two of the following), cough, headache, respiratory symptoms, chills, malaise, muscle pain, loss of taste or smell.  If someone is sent home with any of these symptoms, they must wait until they are symptom free for 72 hours before returning.
  • ANY adult entering the building must have on a face covering and cannot have had any of the above symptoms within the last 72 hours.
  • We will have an isolation area for children that are not feeling well to wait until their parent/guardian can pick them up.
  • If a child or child’s family member is diagnosed with COVID 19 that child will not be able to return to day care until the infected person is symptom free for 72 hours and tests negative for the coronavirus.  We will not charge the family for this time away.
  • As instructed by the Family and Social Services Administration and recommended by the Centers for Disease Control, the following policy will also be in effect:  Child care providers should change children’s clothes if secretions are on the child’s clothes.  Please send in 3 extra outfits for infants and toddlers, 2 extra outfits for 3’s and PreK.  If a bag of dirty clothes is sent home with your child, please replace them the next day.
  • As one parent put it, it is important that we are “all working together to mitigate potential transmission.”
  • All families should be prepared with a backup childcare plan in case we are forced to close again.
